Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Generative AI (GenAI) is a type of artificial intelligence (AI) that can create new content, such as text, images, video, audio, code or synthetic data, based on learning from existing data. Generative AI models can mimic the patterns and structure of the input data, and then generate new data that has similar characteristics.

Canvas Assignments

Assignments include Quizzes, graded Discussions, and online submissions (i.e. files, images, text, URLs, etc.). Assignments in Canvas can be used to challenge students' understanding and help assess competency by using a variety of media.

Canvas Grades

The Grades function within Canvas allows you to maintain all of your grades online. It provides a robust tool for tasks typically done in a spreadsheet application, making it possible to keep all grading online.

Canvas Quizzes overview for instructors

Canvas Quizzes is a tool used to create and administer online quizzes and surveys. Quizzes can also be used to conduct and moderate exams and assessments, both graded and ungraded.

ePortfolios

Portfolium is an academic portfolio network Canvas tool that allows students to showcase their education and work accomplishments and connect with other professionals. You can upload images, Videos (YouTube, Vimeo), PDFs, text documents, and more to your portfolio. Students create their Portfolium account through Canvas and then have access indefinitely through portfolium.com even after they've left school.

Google Assignments

Submit, review, and grade assignment submissions in native Google format (for example, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Sites, etc.) as well as almost any file type stored in Google Drive.

iClicker

iClicker is a classroom management solution that allows students and class instructors to participate in polls and quizzes using iClicker remotes or mobile app, gather anonymous feedback, and more.

LockDown Browser

LockDown Browser a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within Canvas. When students are required to use LockDown Browser for a Canvas Quiz they are unable to print, copy, go to another URL, or access other applications.

Packback’s “Digital TA” AI powers their award-winning student discussion platform, a writing lab for essays and writing assignments, and instructor tools for engaging every student.

Qualtrics

Using Qualtrics in Canvas allows users to make surveys part of the learning experience in Canvas. Use cases include information request and adaptive knowledge tests/quizzes.

Respondus 4.0

Respondus 4.0 is a Windows-only software for creating and managing exams that can be printed to paper or published directly to Canvas Quizzes or question banks.

SmarterProctoring is an advanced solution for online test security, remote, automated and live test proctoring, and for scheduling face-to-face proctoring.

Top Hat - UMKC only

Top Hat is a web-based student response system and comprehensive teaching platform that instructors can use to engage students with interactive slides, graded questions, polls, assignments and more. Students can use smartphones, tablets, laptops, and ordinary cell phones to participate.

Turnitin

Turnitin Feedback Studio is a tool that provides resources to deter plagiarism detection, teach the value of authentic writing, as well as commenting and grading tools that make the feedback process faster, easier, and more consistent.
