Submitting a student's paper to Turnitin

An instructor can submit a student's paper to Turnitin Feedback Studio. This process changed in late September 2023. Please contact us at if you encounter any difficulties or have questions.

  1. Open a web browser and go to
  2. Select the link next to Forgot your password? (See Fig. 1).

  3. Enter your campus email address as it appears in Canvas and your Last Name.
  4. Follow the steps to create a password.
  5. Return to and log in.
  6. Choose Quick Submit from the tabs near the top left. Note: if you have not used Quick Submit before, you will need to select User Info at the top of the page, then set Activate Quick Submit to Yes in the righthand column of User Information/Account Settings, scroll down, and Submit.
  7. Select Submit.
  8. Choose the targets to search and whether or not to store the paper in the Institution Paper Repository.
  9. Select Submit
  10. From the Submit drop-down menu you can choose to upload a single file, multiple files (in a .zip file), or paste in the text of a paper.
  11. Select your option and follow the steps to submit the paper.
  12. It may take a few minutes for the paper to appear back in the Quick Submit inbox. Do not log out before viewing it.
  13. Download a PDF report as you may not be able to retrieve it later and would have to start from scratch.

This is different from using the feature in the Feedback Studio integration that allows you to submit a paper for a student. To do that, open the assignment, then:

  1. In the Assignment Inbox, select Submit on behalf of student to open a dropdown menu of students.
  2. Select the student.
  3. You will be asked if you wish to proceed, choose Continue.
  4. Select Choose File to locate the file to upload.
  5. Choose the file from the dialog and select Open.
  6. Select Upload and Review.
  7. After the upload has finished, select Submit to Turnitin.
