Transitioning McGraw Hill SIMnet

On March 25, 2024, Missouri Online will install an upgraded version of the McGraw Hill SIMnet Canvas integration. This provides improved security, makes it easier to add SIMnet content to Modules, and ensures a stable experience with other McGraw Hill products.

Please note:

  • This guide applies only to courses in Canvas for the Summer 2024 semester and after.
  • The older SIMnet integration will remain available until the end of the Spring 2024 semester. No action needs to be taken for the current semester courses.
  • This upgrade does not affect content that exists within SIMnet. You will still be able to copy/reuse an existing SIMnet course template.

When setting up your courses for the upcoming Summer and Fall Semesters, you will need to utilize the new integration. Step 3 below outlines the new process for pairing your course.

Complete the following steps in your Summer and Fall 2024 Courses (make no changes to your Spring 2024 or prior courses). You may also schedule a time with a McGraw Hill support staff member to assist with this migration.

Step 1

If you so chose, copy your previous Canvas course shell into the Summer/Fall 2024 Course shell. If you do not complete this copy, proceed to Step 3.

Step 2

In your upcoming Summer/Fall 2024 course, follow the steps below delete any Assignments or Links that utilize SIMnet. This will also remove them from the gradebook, and ensure that all links are utilizing the updated integration.

  1. In your course, go to Assignments.
    1. If all SIMnet assignments are together in one Assignment Group, with no other assignments mixed in, you can delete them all by selecting the three vertical dots at the far right of the Assignment Group and choosing Delete. Assignments deleted this way cannot be recovered.
    2. You can also delete individual assignments by selecting the three vertical dots for that particular assignment at the far right of its line in Canvas and choosing Delete. This is reversible, if needed.

Step 3

To pair your SIMnet course to your upcoming Summer/Fall 2024 course:

  1. In your course, go to Modules.
  2. Find or create the module in which you wish to place McGraw Hill content.
  3. Select the three vertical dots at the far right of the module.
  4. Choose McGraw Hill SIMnet LTIA from the menu.
Note: In McGraw Hill documentation, this may be labeled as McGraw Hill SIMnet. To avoid confusion while we transition to the new version, we have chosen to add LTIA to the title.
  5. Pair with a SIMNet section as you normally would. The first time you do this, you may be asked to sign into your SIMNet account from Canvas.  You will still be able to use previously created SIMnet courses/content.

Step 4

Deploy your SIMnet content into your Canvas course.
