Known issues related to recent Canvas updates
This is a list of known issues that are affecting Canvas course functions that were updated/enhanced over the summer.
Missouri Online's recent blog post, What's new in Canvas for Fall 2024, details updates that have been made to Canvas and those pending review.
Announcements
Teachers/TAs are getting notified each time a delayed announcement is edited
Description: When a scheduled announcement gets edited, users with the Teacher/TA role are getting the announcement email but students do not get the notification.
Status: Resolved as of 8/8/2024
Announcements are available to students after the until date with the direct URL
Description: Announcements that are past their until date can be accessed by students if they have a direct URL to it.
Status: Resolved as of 8/14/2024
Editing an announcement but not the "available from" date breaks notifications
Description: When using the announcement/discussion redesign, if you create and then edit an announcement but do not edit the “available from” date, no notifications will be sent out when that date passes.
Status: Vendor is currently investigating
Create/Edited date for Announcement/Discussion when shown in To Do and/or Calendar
Description: When an announcement or discussion is viewed in the course calendar or the to do list the create or the last edited date will display instead of the posted/due date.
Status: Reported to vendor
Assign To
'Assign to' tray retains the data from another assignment when opening a new assignments 'assign to'
Description: If you are on the Assignments list and you have a couple of Assignments already assigned to users or sections, when you click the three dots and ‘Assign to’ on an Assignment, you will see the users and dates assigned, however, if you leave that tray open and click another assignments ‘Assign to’ via three dots, the tray will populate with the new Assignment title, but retain the prior users/dates assigned.

Discussions
Ungraded Discussion Dates Fail to Save When Group Assignment is Enabled
Description: Users are unable to update dates for ungraded discussions when the 'This is a group discussion' feature is enabled

Student View isn't being reset for discussions
Description: Posts made while using student view are not removed after student view is reset.

“Submit the Assignment” or “Score at Least” requirements cannot be set for Graded Discussions in the module tray redesign
Description: When editing module requirements for a graded discussion in the new redesigned tray, there are no options for “Submit the Assignment” or “Score at Least”

Students can subscribe to discussions with the "Participants must respond to the topic before viewing other replies" setting
Description: Students are able to subscribe to discussions with the "Participants must respond to the topic before viewing other replies" setting and they also receive notifications.

Discussion redesign creates multiple replies if the reply button is clicked multiple times fast
Description: With discussion redesign enabled, clicking the reply button multiple times generates multiple posts.
Status: Resolved, date not available
Deleted assignment groups display as options when graded discussion is added to an Assignment Group.
Description: Instructors are able to see deleted assignment groups in their course as options to select when adding a graded discussion to an assignment group.
