Changes: Adding users to Canvas
Recently, it was identified that while Observer and Course Coordinator can be restricted in Canvas, the ability to create those same restrictions in third party tools such as Panopto, VoiceThread and publisher software does not exist. In order to remain compliant with the restrictions of FERPA, beginning Spring 2024, all Observers and Course Coordinators via the CRS will be disabled.
To enforce compliance of a passing score, all roles must be added to PeopleSoft via your course scheduler or Registrar's Office. Instructors will no longer have the ability to add these roles via the CRS beginning Oct 11. Members of the Missouri Online team will not have the ability to add these roles.
For Registrar courses:
All roles except Student and Guest require a passingFERPA score.
All roles except Student, Course Coordinator, Observer, Guest, and Grader can add Zoom meetings to a Canvas course site.
Users must be added to PeopleSoft via your course scheduler or Registrar's Office.
For Organization, Development and Non-credit courses:
All roles may be added using the Canvas Request System.
