Panopto will replace Kaltura in June 2021
On June 1, 2021 Kaltura will no longer be available for use. Panopto will replace Kaltura as the supported media streaming and storage service. All video streaming and lecture capabilities will be consolidated into Panopto to streamline technologies, support, and budgets.
Faculty are encouraged to switch to Panopto as soon as possible for video creation. Users can add media content to Kaltura until February 1, 2021 at which time no more video content can be created or uploaded into Kaltura. Kaltura Capture will no longer be available at that time. Videos can continue to be played throughout the Spring 2021 semester.
What happens to my Kaltura content?
After February 1st, Panopto will start the process of copying all Kaltura videos that have been played at least once since January 1st, 2019 to the relevant campus instance of Panopto.
Where can I learn how to use Panopto? The UM System Teaching Tools site contains a number of help documents on using Panopto. You can also register to join one of the many workshops or help sessions on Panopto.
